East Tutu? EASY tutu.

-Several strips of tulle

Tie your many strips of tulle onto your ribbon.

Bam.  Tutu.  Good for children of all ages.

Double-time tutu making. Hint: hold one end of the ribbon in your mouth to make tying your tulle on easier.

Our lovely tutu model, Raven.

Mimi’s Food Porn

, ,

Mimi (with the help of Anna) has been busy making cute, sweet things in the sunny metropolis of Olympia, WA. Here is photographic evidence of our more recent edible creations!

Making gnocchi! It’s all in the thumb…

Finished gnocchi. They turned out pretty well, though a little soft, but it gave us hope for future gnocchi-making ventures!

Anniversary Dinner: Pan seared asparagus and prawns over brown rice, with a lemon-dijon dressing and fresh tomatoes. In other words, delicious!

Vegan Coconut Truffles!

More truffles! These were made for a friend’s going away party, and they were a huge hit.

Blueberry and lemon-marscarpone tiny pies. I hate the word “tartlet.

And last, but by no means least, I present to you:

This cake was made for our house mate’s birthday. He’s made out of a fresh mango and coconut butter cake, with shaved coconut pressed into the frosting (for fur-likeness). Although he’s not the prettiest cat to look at, CheeseCat was both delicious and hilarious, and most importantly, the birthday girl loved him!

Comic Paintings …ha ha ha, no really.

Nah and Lah recently created several paintings for a fundraiser for Angry, Young & Poor (https://www.facebook.com/AngryYoungPoor).  The paintings were based off of photos of real people, which we made into clear overhead sheets, then we used an overhead projector to trace the main lines of the face onto a canvas, and then we filled it in.  It’s a simple process that we’ve done before, for another Angry, Young & Poor fundraiser (photos to be found and posted later).  These photos were taken inside, so the color is a little off.  We’ll post a better photo of the amalgamation of all of the paintings we did later.  In the meantime, check out our art!

Gawd, we’re awesome.

Cabin Cookies

Flourless Peanut Butter Cookies

1 1/2 C. Peanut Butter (the crunchier the better)

1/2 C. Packed Brown Sugar

1 Large egg white

(For long-lasting soft cookie experience: add apple sauce and a little oatmeal)  And/Or (Add chocolate chips if you are a superior human)

Mix all ingredients in a medium mixing bowl.  Roll dough into 1 inch balls and place 1 inch apart on a greased cookie sheet (or use parchment paper).  If you have no chocolate chips, or do this with half of the dough, lightly push finger into the ball of dough and make a small crater.  Fill the crater with jam.

Bake at 350 degrees F for 12-15 minutes.  Cool on rack.  Yields ~2 dozen cookies

More to Come…

Cabin cooking!

It's Christmas in Paradise! Mimi & naH worked all night on this Triple Threat Chocolate Mousse Cake for a company Christmas party. This beast had a chocolate truffle base, one layer of dark chocolate mousse & one of white; the sides are pressed with crushed candy canes & peppermint truffles were grated over the top. It turned out Trifecta Perfecta!
